2009 Memory Walks a Huge Success

Thousands Support the Cause

Philadelphia - More than 450 teams, totaling nearly 10,000 Alzheimer’s supporters participated in the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter’s annual Memory Walk, Sunday November 15th.  Walkers joined FOX 29 at Citizens Bank Park for this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease.

Along with members of the FOX 29 team and Bus Stop Buddy, there was a live band, snacks and lots of excitement, including members of The Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale who performed in their trademark red blazers.

Most of the walkers have a personal connection to the disease, perhaps a family member or friend who is one of the 294,000 individuals living with the devastating effects of the disease in our area.

The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research programs. It is held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, inspiring volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s.  Champions include those living with the disease, families, caregivers, corporate and community leaders, who actively support Memory Walk in our community.
