PHILADELPHIA - Tuesday, January 19th, FOX 29 teamed up with Greater Media Philadelphia radio stations and SEPTA, and collected $40,000 for the three million Haitian people who have been devastated by the worst earthquake in 200 years.
Along with representatives from the American Red Cross, we collected monetary donations during the morning and evening rush hours at four major commuter centers:
Funds were collected at each location from 5am to 10am and 5pm to 7pm. FOX 29 was also live on the air from all the locations during “Good Day Philadelphia,” "FOX 29 News at Five" and "FOX 29 News at Six."
Our GRAND TOTAL was $39,866.38, but with a $150 donation from Firstrust, who volunteered to count all the money for us, we went over the $40K mark!! THANKS Firstrust!
Philly Pretzel Factory was on-hand with yummy Philly Pretzels for viewers who made a donation!
SPECIAL THANKS to our partners at SEPTA and Greater Media Philadelphia radio stations, especially WMMR's Pierre Robert and the 'MMaRmy; WMGK's John DeBella and Intern Dave; BEN-FM's Marilyn Russell; and 97.5 The Fanatic's Mike Missanelli and the Ground Crew.
If you couldn't make it out to our SEPTA collection locations and want to donate, it's not too late...
