Jersey Shore Cast Goes On Strike

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. - Filming of the next part of MTV's "Jersey Shore" was to start in Seaside Heights on Sunday, but the gang didn't show up as part of a labor dispute.

TMZ says the seven cast members won't work until they get a guarantee of more money from MTV. Former cast member Angelina is no longer on the show.

Sources tell TMZ the cast feels they can make more money doing personal appearances in July and August, rather than filming "Jersey Shore."

Fox 29 was up in Seaside Heights last week, where production crews were already in place of the series.

TMZ says five cast members no-showed on Sunday, and the two biggest stars, Snooki and The Situation, will not show up on Monday.

The cast currently gets $10,000 per episode per person. The Situation was apparently looking for $27,000 per episode, plus a ratings bonus.

Before appearing on the show, most cast members worked in lower-paying service jobs.

MTV also held open auditions in the Spring in Atlantic City for new cast members.

There were reports MTV wanted to replace at least five cast members at some point, and just keep original stars The Situation, Snooki and Pauly D on the show.

TMZ says MTV executives are unhappy with four “Jersey Shore” cast members, and four new people may join the cast in Seaside Heights this summer.

In May, MTV help an open casting call for new cast members in Atlantic City, N.J.

Filming in Seaside Heights this summer was to take place with a full-time police escort at the party house where the cast members will interact with the locals and each other.
