PHILADELPHIA - Moms and dads and college kids have less than one month to go before the big dorm move-in.

So, on Monday we gave "Good Day's Jenn Frederick an empty dorm room and two hours and told her to make it wonderful

Joining JennFred at the Towers Building on Drexel University's campus during the 7 a.m. hour was designer, mom and stylist Michele Seidman.

Among Seidman's tips were:

  • Check dorm rules first because every school different
  • Take something from home, such as pillows or a couch blanket
  • Embrace your style, then style the room for you
  • Download checklists, many are available online

At 8 a.m., Beth Jugenheimer, of The Container Store, told Jenn about her biggest space-saver tips (see the second video clip):

  • Closets are small, so bring fall clothes only
  • Bring a hutch because one problem is no storage space
  • First time doing laundry? Get a great hamper

And at 9 a.m., Seidman was back to show some of her favorite touches in the room video clip No. 3):

  • Reversible duvet cover, which have more uses and stay cleaner
  • Ooh and OMG pillows made from recycled bottles
  • Flameless ivory candles that are scented, use batteries
