There are just a few weeks left until the general election in November. The candidates are out in full force.
Many eyes are on the race for Senate in Pennsylvania. The latest Rasmussen poll has Republican candidate Pat Toomey leading Democratic rival Joe Sestak 45% to 39%.
Toomey recently received an important endorsement from the FOP. He explained both candidates made presentations to the statewide organization. They questioned the candidates, voted, and ultimately endorsed Toomey. He told Mike and Sheinelle he's "delighted and grateful." Toomey says they don't agree on every issue, but "I think they appreciate the working relationship I have with them." Philadelphia's FOP is scheduled to make its announcement later Wednesday.
Toomey said an ad airing by the Sestak camp claiming he doesn't want corporations to pay their share of taxes is misleading. "Again this is Joe Sestak taking things completely out of context." Toomey explained if companies are taxed more they will simply pass the expense on to consumers. "So we all pay higher prices." Toomey would like to make the 2003 tax cuts permanent. "I would lower the Capital Gains rate because that would promote entrepreneurship, more risk taking, more business start-ups."
Toomey does not believe the stimulus package worked. He pointed out unemployment went over 10% with the stimulus package in place. "Since they got their stimulus bill 2.5 million Americans have lost their jobs including tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians. The fact is it got worse."
