PHILADELPHIA - The Oswalt era begins Friday night for the Phillies when the new ace will make his debut in Washington, D.C., against the Nationals.
Roy Oswalt, who waived his no-trade clause with the Astros to join Philadelphia, brings with him a ton of big-game experience. He pitched the Astros to the World Series in 2005.
He likes his chances in Philadelphia, too.
"They have a great team, have a young team. That's one good thing about the Phillies is their base core is younger than me, and they should have a good team for a long, long time. So I'm hoping to get us in the playoffs. I mean, one big thing about it is, you know, (Roy) Halladay is over there, a guy that I've kind of watched in the last two or three years, I get to watch him live now and be on the same team. So maybe we can kind of feed off of each other. And Cole Hamels is another great pitcher over there. So, hopefully if we can start feeding off each other it will be like '05 with (Andy) Pettitite and Rocket (Roger Clemens)."
Joining "Good Day" to talk more about the big deal and what it means for the rest of the season was Pat Gallen from 97.3 ESPN Radio.
