Avoid Dreaded 'Vanishing Airfares'

NEW HOPE, Pa. - It happens all the time. You search for an airfare and find a cheap plane ticket. Go to another website, come back, and that cheap fare has gone up!

The travel experts call that the vanishing airfare. Fox 29's Jenn Frederick calls it a rip off after it happened to her.

"It's the dreaded you fare has risen in a matter of seconds. What is that, bait and switch?" said Jennifer Doncsecz, president of VIP Travel.

Doncsecz said to make sure you search travel website engines by the accurate number of people you are planning to buy for – not just one ticket – the first time you search.

"A key is, Sheinelle, stop using Orbitz," Doncsecz said. "You could also clear you (web browser's) cache. That takes away the cookies that are stored in there."

Doncsecz said she likes Kayak.com because it searches other sites.

If you don't have your identification or passport information ready to be keyed in when you search, you also run the risk of being timed out of your ticket purchase. So, make sure you have Doncsecz those items ready to go.
