When you are counting carbohydrates it's important to differentiate between so-called good and bad carbs.
Deanna Segrave-Daly explained during "Fit To Ride" it's important to keep an eye on added sugars.
Segrave-Daly said the American Heart Association has come out with new recommendations on how much added sugar you should consume.
Women should only consume about six-teaspoons, or 25-grams a day. Men should eat about nine-teaspoons, or 37-grams. Segrave-Daly said most people take in about 22-teaspoons of added sugar each day.
Some ways to reduce your added sugar intake include:
Cutting out softdrinks, reading labels, and eating things with naturally occurring sugars.
