The statistics are astounding: Every three days a child athlete will suffer sudden cardiac arrest.
In the wake of Wes Leonard and other similar deaths, there is a Montgomery-based group trying to get every child screened for heart abnormalities. The group is called Simon's Fund.
Jenn Frederick was out in Ardmore this morning talking to Arden Krawitz. Arden's daughter, Valerie, was screened at one of Simon Fund's screening. It turns out she had a heart condition. Valerie had successful open heart surgery and is now happy and healthy!
Dr. Mike also stopped by and weighed in on the importance of screening young children.
