Rendell Pledges More Help For Autistic

Pa. Census Estimates 5,000 New Cases By 2010

There's a new report out that estimates the number of Pennsylvanians living with autism will grow by 5,000 next year.

That's up from an estimated 20,000 Pennsylvanians with the disability in 2005, and the figures represent a substantial rise among adults.

The highest number of cases is concentrated in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

The report highlights a need for more planning for autistic children transitioning into adulthood, as well as planning to house the growing number of adults with the disability.
