PHILADELPHIA - Doctors report they haven't seen the surge in H1N1 cases they anticipated this season. But officials warn a big wave could still be coming.
Fears over the H1N1 virus prompted hospitals across the country to put emergency plans in place. And with vaccines in short supply, health officials say it's more important than ever for hospitals get ready.
Doctors say in most cases the flu can be treated at home and recommend you do not come in to the emergency room with regular symptoms unless you are considered at risk. That includes children under age 5, adults over 65, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems.
Meanwhile, the Chester County Health Department will be receiving 5,300 doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine.
The health department says these vaccines will be free to "tier one" residents by appointment only.
