PHILADELPHIA - The Wachovia Center is about to get a name change.
It's going to be the Wells Fargo Center as of July 1.
Philadelphia's zoning board will consider a filing by Wells Fargo to change the signs as early as this week. The new name is expected to be in place before the start of the Flyers and Sixers new seasons.
The venue started out in 1996 as the Corestates Center, spent some time as the First Union Center but has been the Wachovia Center since 2003.
