53K Tons Of Philly Electronics Recycled

PHILADELPHIA - Philly's got junk! Fox 29 asked viewers to get rid of their old, broken, useless electronics, and you responded.

This was the 2nd annual Real Deal/FOXe event and, once again, you helped make it a huge success.

Consumer Reporter Michelle Buckman hosted the event with the help of Philadelphia recycling company TBS Industries and Comcast-Spectacor.

In just hours Wednesday, they collected 53,200 pounds of electronics that otherwise was collecting dust in garages and basements or would have ended up in landfills.

Among the items dropped off in Wachovia Center parking lot "D" were computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, CD players, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, speakers, phones and more.
