There's some good news for the local job market as more green jobs are coming to the Philadelphia area.
Congressman Patrick Murphy will make a formal announcement Tuesday that Y-Carbon Inc. will expand its work developing nanotechnology for fields like energy, water and medicine to Lower Bucks County.
The company is expected to get a $150,000 grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act as it brings green technology and more jobs to the area.
That announcement comes one day after Gov. Ed Rendell said a Greek company is planning to build solar panels at the old Naval Yard in South Philadelphia.
That means 200 new construction jobs fairly fast and 400 permanent manufacturing jobs when the plant gets finished.
The factory is expected to be up and running by 2011, and the move makes Pennsylvania No.1 in solar energy jobs in the U.S., officials said.
