Fox 29 General manager Patrick Paolini voices his opinion on the recent violence in Philadelphia.
More than a week after the latest group of teens terrorized people in center city an angry Mayor Nutter finally released his plan to deal with violent mobs.
A key part is his curfew keeping kids out of Center City and University City after 9 p.m. on weekends.
But is his plan going to stop what seems to be an epidemic of violence in Philadelphia?
Unfortunately, reports of mobs of teens attacking innocent people in Philadelphia is nothing new.
For a few years we have told you about the countless people who face these acts of violence.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey scolded parents who let their kids wreak havoc in our city.
The mayor was impassioned when he said a majority of these youth are damaging their own race.
The mayor should also be worried about the damage caused by fear.
Visitors, residents and business owners in this city need to feel safe, or these kids will kill the lifeblood of the city, tourism dollars.
These mob attacks are disturbing and outrageous and must not be tolerated.
So please, parents it is time to act like a parent and know where you kids are and make them understand that this behavior is unacceptable.
Police – increase your presence, be visible and do whatever you can to prevent these attacks and protect the citizens of this city.
Lawmakers – these violent criminals need to be held accountable and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
We all have a responsibility to do our part to take back our streets so we can have a future without these violent nights in Philadelphia.
