The lights were out Tuesday at the Players Strip club on Allegheny Avenue after a licenses and inspections nuisance task force closed the business down again.
Police records show more than 40 times in the past year Philadelphia police responded to the Players Club to stop fights, shootings, robberies and underage drinking.
"If you have a business we expect you to police it we expect you to have it orderly," said Capt. Daniel Castro of Philadelphia police
The club advertises nonstop go-go dancers, but instead neighbors say the club and its patrons caused nonstop trouble in this Kensington neighborhood.
After another shooting Monday night, cops and the task force decided it was time to shut the club down.
As a task force officer hung the cease operations notice up on the building, other local business owners cheered.
Sharon Haldis runs a medical clinic next door to the strip club.
"Some of the recent goings on there had us worried had me
worried about our employees," she said.
The owners of the club will have time to appeal this
ruling.
They were successful before when the strip club was shut down on a technicality.
It may be more difficult this time as the city intends to try to
keep it closed for good.
