Fast-food chain KFC has sent letters to the nation's mayors offering to patch their cities' potholes for free, according to the Chicago Tribune .
As part of the offer, KFC says it will put a stenciled logo on the patch that says the road has been "Re-Freshed by KFC."
"In honor of our 'Fresh Tastes Best' campaign, we want to come and Re-'Fresh' your roads!" KFC President Roger Eaton wrote in the letters. "Every patched pothole comes with the Colonel's very own stamp of approval."
Unusual advertising ploys are nothing new. Some of the more interesting ads chronicled by BusinessWeek include a bathroom urinal near the ceiling to promote "Spider-Man 2," and a full-sized car made out of ice parked on a London street to promote Volkswagen Polo Twist.
