A thief in Washington ironically crashed a stolen SUV into a jail Sunday.
Police were alerted Sunday night by a relative of the man that he was driving his mother’s stolen Lincoln Navigator.
A short while later the SUV rammed right through the Spokane County Jail.
Police say drove the man drove car over a curb and onto a sidewalk to avoid security devices designed to prevent unauthorized traffic. The vehicle careened through the prisoner intake area and slammed into a wall.
No one inside was hurt.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Dustin Leeds, struggled with officers as they arrested him.
Family members say Leeds has mental health issues and hasn't driven a vehicle in years.
Meanwhile, jail officials say damage is estimated at $14,000.
