Widener U. Bans Smoking On Campuses

CHESTER, Pa. - The air is about to get a little clearer around Widener University.

The Chester-based school is about to become the first four-year college in the Philadelphia region to ban smoking on campuses.

The university will offer students and staff help to quit smoking.

A committee of faculty, staff and students proposed the ban over concerns about health insurance costs. The ban goes into effect July 1.
