PHILADELPHIA - It's back to school today for kids in the Philadelphia School District after a weekend off.
But for some kids that means back to a battleground in the classroom.
Fights, assaults and intimidation in the classroom are happening at multiple city schools.
There have been 828 "serious incidents" this year in the district's 23 middle schools this year alone.
Parents, teachers and students say enough is enough.
The problem may get worse before it gets better, since the district is set to lay off nearly 100 school police officers.
Videos obtained by FOX 29 News are a shocking look at what's going on in Philadelphia classrooms. The videos were shot at Samuel Huey Elementary-Middle School in West Philadelphia.
Since then, we've taken a look at the school's history and found the problems go deeper. At Huey there have been 22 serious incidents reported to the school district since the beginning of the school year – from simple disorderly conduct, to assaults on teachers, assaults on employees, and even a fire was set.
When we poured over incident reports from all 23 middle schools, we found topping the list was Meehan Middle School in the Northeast and Jones Middle School in Port Richmond. Each had 77 serious incidents.
Harding Middle School in Frankford was next on the list at 68 incidents, ranging from weapons indecent exposure to harassment.
It's quite obvious something needs to be done. Some parents say it starts at home.
FOX 29's Chris O'Connell has more details in this video report.
If you want to see the incident reports at your school, the school district has recently put their reports online, go to the schools page, click on your school and click on year to date reports. Or, you can click here .
Coming up at 7:30 a.m. Monday, "Good Day" will talk with the district's safe schools advocate about what they are doing to fix this problem.
