PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia teachers union says recent layoffs of public school nurses are endangering students, especially those with medical conditions like diabetes and asthma.
Union President Jerry Jordan says school staff with no medical training are being asked to dispense medication in place of nurses.
The union is asking the Pennsylvania Department of Health to investigate whether the district is violating any guidelines.
