The Lower Merion School District will have a new set of rules for students that have school-issued laptops this year.
The new policy is designed to stop the district from remotely activating webcams on the laptops.
The school board unanimously approved the proposed changes that were recommended by a task force of parents, students and administrators earlier this summer.
The recommendations also stem from a federal investigation and a class-action lawsuit that accused the district of webcam spying.
That lawsuit and now another suit are still pending against the district for remotely accessing the laptops.
