The pursuit of truth and an informed public are the primary goals for investigative reporters. And when it comes to hard-edge reporting, Fox 29 Investigates investigative reporter, Jeff Cole asks all the right questions. Jeff, an award-winning political and investigative reporter, joined FOX 29's award-winning investigative unit, "FOX Undercover," in March 2000.
Jeff, a veteran in the investigative reporting field, comes to FOX 29 from WFSB-TV, a CBS affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut. He began his career at WFSB in 1984 as a morning news anchor. After serving as anchor for two years and demonstrating his interest and ability regarding in-depth reporting, Jeff proceeded to act as an investigative reporter for more than a decade.
It was in this capacity as an investigative reporter that Jeff was awarded four New England Emmy awards. In addition, Cole was a two-time recipient of the prestigious Theodore Driscoll award, named for the Hartford Courant's long-time investigative reporter. Cole is the only broadcast reporter to be have won this award.
Prior to his award-winning tenure at WFSB in Hartford, Cole worked as a political reporter for Maryland Public Television. While it was in session, Jeff was responsible for covering the Maryland General Assembly. In the Assembly's off-season, Jeff produced mini-documentaries for the station. Jeff began his political reporting career as an assignment editor, producer and reporter for Capital Broadcast News in Washington, D.C.
Jeff cultivated his journalism skills at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. During his undergraduate career, Cole worked for two years as a producer/tape editor for WTNH-TV, the New Haven ABC affiliate, and was an intern on Capitol Hill for a Connecticut congressman. In 1980, Jeff graduated college with a degree in journalism and history.
A native of Southern Massachusetts, Jeff is one of six children. He is married with two children.
