Planned Casino Already Facing Fines

PHILADELPHIA - A planned South Philly casino isn't even underway yet and is already facing fines.

State regulators want the developers of Foxwoods Casino in Philadelphia to explain why they shouldn't lose their gambling license.

The state gaming control board imposed a $2,000-a-day fine on the group for failing to submit development information by the Dec. 1 deadline.

The board also denied a request for an extension, and that fine is retroactive.

Of 11 major slots licensees, Foxwoods is the only one not open or under construction.
