Missing Police Dog Taken To Hospital

Egg Harbor Twp. Dog Escapes During Lightning Storm

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Dillinger the police dog has been found near Egg Harbor Township and taken to a local animal hospital. He went missing during last week's Nor'easter.

Officials said Dillinger, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, was found near Route 322. He had been missing for five days. He was taken to Ocean Heights Animal Hospital for treatment. There was no word on his condition.

The Atlantic County Sheriff's Office says Dillinger's handler, Ron DeMoulin, discovered the K9 officer was missing early Sunday.

The dog scaled a 5-foot chain-link fence and squeezed through a 6-inch gap between the roof and the top of the fence behind the sheriff's officer's Egg Harbor Township home.
