FBI Analyzing Jailhouse Islam Material

PHILADELPHIA - Detectives and the FBI spent five days searching for accused gunman Jermain Goodman after he allegedly shot a defenseless security guard at a local Pathmark.

When they arrested him, they found what's being described to us as " intelligence materials" that are of some concern to FBI.

Goodman, who also goes by the name, Zahid Abdul-Muquette, was hauled off to jail on Friday March 27, his 30th birthday. FBI agents and detectives executed search warrants at locations where he had been hiding out while on the run from police. While they didn't find the gun used in the shooting, sources tell FOX 29 news, investigators then found some other items of interest to the FBI.

"We're very satisfied to get this male off the street. His propensity for violence was very high," Lt. John Walker told Fox 29.

Police recently expressed concerns after police officer John Pawlowski was gunned down by accused cop killer Rasheed Scruggs, a converted Muslim, information surfaced about a new form radical jailhouse Islam being taught in state and federal prisons.

Scruggs served time in state prison, as did, Goodman and accused cop killers Howard Cain and Levon Warner, who wore Muslim clothing during the bank robbery that led up to Sgt. Steven Liczbinski being killed with an AK-47 style assault rifle.

The materials seized last week are being analyzed by FBI experts studying jailhouse Islam here. Goodman faces a dozen charges in the unarmed security guard's shooting.

Now city police would not comment on what was found during those searches, but sources say the materials are being carefully scrutinized to determine where they came from and why Goodman had them. The FBI refused to comment.
