Insider Talks About Brutal Drug Ring

Man Talks To Fox 29 About Kaboni Savage

PHILADELPHIA - From the shadows come the words of a man who knows the inner workings of the Kaboni Savage drug organization.

Savage and three co-defendants are facing the heat after a 26-count federal indictment this week charged them with running a drug ring that allegedly made a habit of eliminating rivals and witnesses against them.

The man knows all of the defendants named in Wednesday's big federal indictment.

He came forward because he thinks everyone should know about Kaboni Savage, his colleagues and their alleged crimes. We agreed to protect his identity, reported Fox 29's Dave Schratwieser.

"Perhaps the most violent drug gang ever seen in the City of Philadelphia...."

That's how U.S. Attorney Laurie Magid described drug kingpin Kaboni Savage and his so-called thugs after they were hit with a 26-count indictment, charging them in connection with 12 murders.

"These were cold-blooded, calculated murders," says Magid.

Now from the shadows comes a man who knows the inner workings of Savage's drug organization. He knows Savage as well as Lamont Lewis and Robert Merritt, the two men accused of carrying out Savage's arson and murder for hire plot that left six people dead, including four children..

"Them kids didn't know nothing. They're innocent children. They didn't know nothing. Didn't even get to see what life is about," says the insider.

This man spoke out even though he fears for his life and his family, with good reason. Prosecutors and the FBI say Savage made a habit of silencing his rivals in the drug business and witnesses .

"It's a new level of depravity and mindless menace that demands swift and certain law enforcment action," says Janice Fedarcyk of the FBI.

Our insider says Savage and his crew were cold and calculating, bloodthirsty if anyone got in their way. He hopes this new indictment will someday make them accountable for their actions.

"You can't go out here and steal, you can't go out here and rob and you sure enough can't murder nobody. But you broke all of those rules," says the man.

Prosecutors say the arson murders and the six other homicides charged in this new indictment could bring the death penalty if Savage and his three co-defendants are convicted. Our man from the inner circle says, as far as he's concerned, they deserve it.

"Personally I think they should get the death penalty. Just for the children alone, they should get the death penalty."

Savage is already serving 30 years in a federal supermax prison in Colorado. He is expected to return to Philadelphia to face those charges soon. His lawyer says Savage had nothing to do with the arson that took those six lives.

The three other defendants in the case are also behind bars.
