PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia firefighter and his son face assault charges after they allegedly jumped out of a car and beat up a man.
Gerard M. Shaffer, 47, and his son, also named Gerard Shaffer, were arrested Monday, police said Tuesday.
The men were charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person and other related offenses for an April 8 incident at Knights and Fairdale roads.
Police said the Shaffers exchanged words with a man walking in front of their car while they were driving. The Shaffers then reportedly got out of the car and beat the man up.
The man was still reported to be in critical condition Tuesday.
