PHILADELPHIA - What did Kate Gosselin and Jon Gosselin do on the day of their
record-setting TV premiere?
It turns out the battling spouses took separate trips away
from Reading, Pa.
Kate Gosselin and her 8 kids were spotted on vacation without Jon, thanks to spys on Twitter.
The reality TV star’s presence in North Carolina was revealed by locals in Bald Head Island.
Noticably absent was husband Jon Gosselin, who was photographed Monday in upstate New York drinking a beer with two women at a bar in Newburgh, N.Y.
Rob Tanczos, manager of the bar, confirmed Gosselin's appearance to the local newspaper in Newburgh.
“It’s been absolutely insane. It’s been
non-stop since I got in at 10 o’clock this morning,”
Tanczos said. “Thank you TMZ, I really appreciate it.”
But down south at the isolated vacation spot in North
Carolina was bodyguard Steve Neild, who accompanied Kate Gosselin
and her children to the isolated island.
The news comes on the same day that TLC said will not
air a reality show with Jennifer Lopez, but will instead double the
number of "Jon & Kate" shows this year.
The decision could be a financial windfall for the Gosselins, with the couple getting a reported $75,000 per episode. A 40-show series would bank Jon and Kate at least $3 million, not including the numerous freebies the couple get on the show.
The decision comes on the heels of the huge rating numbers for Monday's premier episode and a ton of media backlash against the couple.
Relatives and former friends continue to bash the Gosselins in public, with Kate's brother and siser-in-law making a highly publicized appearance on CBS News.
For the third consecutive week, "Jon and Kate Plus 8" star Kate Gosselin also found herself on the cover of US Weekly magazine.
The magazine details the "tight leash" Kate has on her husband and co-star Jon. Quoting Jon's former employer David Rothermel from Style Craft Corp, he says that she gave him only $5 a day to spend.
"She used to give him only $5 to spend, and if he was out and needed more money, she would give him hell," Rothermel told US magazine.
He goes on to tell the magazine that a one point a very-pregnant Kate came into the office. "She came in raising hell because Jon's father was supposed to bring her lunch and he was late."
The show returned to TLC for a new season Monday breaking records for the most watched cable premiere, according to the Nielsen TV Ratings. The show drew in 9.8 million viewers.
