Dogs, Weapons, Drugs Seized from Home

Investigators say they have uncovered a dog fighting ring, and much more.

The SPCA served a warrant at a home in the 900-block of Wynnewood Road in Philadelphia’s Overbrook section Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say they found guns, drugs, and 19 fighting pit bulls inside the home. One of the dogs was dead.

“We’ve had problems before. The neighborhood has had problems before with dogs in the neighborhood. There’s an elderly woman that lives next door and there has been problems in the past,” said neighbor Jeri Leggett.

The homeowner, David Nigro, faces animal cruelty charges.

The dogs are in the care of the SPCA.
