Neighbors: Man Slain Over Charcoal Bag

Man Fatally Shot In Germantown

PHILADELPHIA - A man was cut down in a hail of gunfire during a mid-morning shooting in Germantown.

Police said the gunfire was reported around 10 a.m. on the 800 block of East Locust Avenue, and the man was shot in the head outside in the yard.

Police did not identify the victim, who was said to be in his 20s or 30s. He was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Neighbors reported hearing four or five shots, and then the police arrived.

Neighbors said they believe the argument was over a bag of charcoal.

The police department's homicide unit was at the scene investigating and talking to witnesses Wednesday afternoon because there were people home at the time.

Police said no weapon was recovered.
