Jon and Kate Gosselin have picked media outlets to start their public divorce fight, with Jon mad about Kate’s claims that he could hurt his own family.

Jon was speaking with Entertainment Tonight about Kate’s
claims she had to file for divorce to protect her children.
"I am deeply saddened that we are divorcing, and also hurt by
the statement Kate made last night about the divorce. I have always
done everything I can to protect our family,” Jon Gosselin
told ET.
In a statement to People magazine, Kate Gosselin said,
“Over the course of this weekend, Jon's activities have left
me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect
myself and our children."
Jon Gosselin told ET that he also wanted matters handled
peacefully.
"The one thing I do agree with in Kate's statement is her
desire to resolve things amicably. Of course emotions are running
high for both of us right now, but for the sake of our children and
our family's privacy, I hope that we can both limit our public
comments about the legal proceedings going forward."
He also told ET he spent Father’s Day alone with his
eight children.
Kate Gosselin also said she is willing to "negotiate a fair
and reasonable" settlement with Jon.
She has picked People magazine as her exclusive media outlet
and the magazine is heavily promoting its exclusive interview with
Kate, on newsstands this Friday, conducted just a few days before
the divorce announcement.
"On a good day, I feel relief," Kate told People. "On a bad
day, I feel failure."
Kate Gosselin also told People that the children have been
told about the divorce.
The New York Daily News says its sources confirm Reading,
Pa., school teacher Deanna Hummel could appear also appear in
scenes shot at Jon's residence when the show returns.
US Weekly reported in May that Hummel and Jon Gosselin were in a relationship, which both people have denied.
“Deanna's role isn't expected to be big, but because she's part of Jon's life, she'll be filmed," says the Daily News.
Given that bodyguard Steve Nield is still working for Kate Gosselin, and they have been romantically linked, the new “Jon & Kate” could get a bit heated.
The couple's divorce episode on Monday night drew 10.6 million viewers – a new record for TLC and up from 2.8 million the previous week.
That may give TLC enough of a motive to change the focus of the show from the couple's eight children to its four adults.
TLC and the Gosselins also have to face a current Pennsylvania state investigation into alleged child-labor law violations.
For now, the couple will split child care responsibilities at their Wernersville, Pa., estate, and maintain separate residences.
TLC has halted production on Jon & Kate Plus 8 on Tuesday. It says all-new episodes won't air until at least August 3. The decision apparently came from the network.
