PHILADELPHIA - A triple shooting overnight at a Frankford bar leaves dead a man whose father died after an alleged beating earlier this year.
Police said the victim was an innocent bystander just sitting inside the Irish Kitchen bar on the 1200 block of Pratt Street and having a good time.
On Friday morning, the family of the 25-year-old man who was killed, Dallas Custalow, came to the scene to identify him and shared a photograph of him.
Custalow's 71-year-old father, Dallas Sr., died in February of a heart attack after allegedly being brutally beaten with a shovel and a trash can by an Oxford Circle neighbor.
On Friday morning, investigators were still interviewing people outside the Pratt Street bar where the triple shooting occurred, trying to figure out what happened and find out who was the gunman.
Police said some men got into an argument inside the establishment, and that's when shots rang out.
Custalow was apparently on the other side of the bar from where the argument was taking place.
A second man who was shot was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, while a third was struck in the leg by a bullet but expected to recover.
Family members said Custalow went out to a move last night before heading to the bar with his girlfriend's brother on the way to pick the girlfriend up.
"He was a good kid. He was kind. He went back to roofing school. He was trying to get his life organized. He was very good. He helped everybody. He'll do anything for you. When I needed him, he was right there for me and all," said Custalow's aunt, Ann Murray.
His mother said they had just buried the 25-year-old's father a few months ago, and she doesn't know how she can go on without her only son, Fox 29's Julie Kim reported.
"I just buried his father. Now, I'm burying him," said the mother, Ilene Murray. "Him and his father were more than father and son. They were best friends. And he would want to be with his dad. He's American Indian, and proud of it, so he'll be buried down on the reservation with his father."
