Storm Brings Down Trees, Power Lines

PHILADELPHIA - Numerous trees and power lines were toppled by a sudden storm that moved across the city Thursday night.

A giant tree crashed onto an abandoned home on Church Lane in Germantown, reported Fox 29's Sharon Crowley.

The weight of the tree and its branches pulled power lines down and left next-door-neighbors without electricity.

Fast-moving lightning storms knocked out power, toppled trees and destroyed a few parked cars.

One woman was even trapped for a short time in her car on Wister Lane. Lucky for her, Bill who owns 'Bill's Tree Service' lives in the neighborhood.

"The lady was trapped in the car. She fell on the car, but she wasn't harmed at all. Just some damage to the car," says the man.

The storm moved quickly, but, in seconds, it left a significant amount of damage.

PECO is working to repair reports of scattered power outages.
