PHILADELPHIA - Police want to know who unloaded seven bullets into a man as he walked to his car in the city's Strawberry Mansion section. Fox 29 has learned he is the same man who accused NFL player Marvin Harrison of shooting him last spring.
Police say Dwight Dixon, 33, was ambushed while leaving a restaurant in the 2800 block of Girard Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
Dixon was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Police say they do not yet have any suspects or motive. Investigators do think he was the intended target.
There was a shooting this past weekend at a home Dixon once lived at, say police. Investigators are seeing if it is connected to this case.
In the earlier shooting, which happened April 28, 2008, Dixon accused then-Indianapolis Colts player Marvin Harrision of shooting and wounding him in the hand during a fight outside a North Philadelphia car wash Harrison owns.
Ballistics tests showed the shots fired came from Harrision's gun. The District Attorney, though, never charged Harrison saying no credible witness could identify Harrison as the shooter.
Dixon was convicted of a misdemeanor in January for lying to police about the shooting. Dixon's lawyers said he initially lied to police because he feared Harrison.
