Alleged Babe Bandit Busted In Bank Heist

A 21-year-old woman is a suspect in connection with a daring daylight Trenton bank robbery.

Kristine Giovannetti was driving a car Thursday morning with a passenger, Clemson Gist, 37, in the vehicle when two detectives spotted the car on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Moments before, the Wachovia Bank on Brunswick had been robbed at 9:30 a.m. A suspect matching Gist's description was seen getting into the car driven by Giovannetti.

Police say the suspect had approached a bank teller and handed her a note demanding money. The teller complied with the suspect’s demand and the suspect fled the bank.

After the suspect fled, a teller immediately alerted an off duty officer.

The officer immediately exited the bank, watched the suspect enter a vehicle, and broadcasted an alert.

Detectives positively identified the vehicle and Gist as the robbery suspect they saw entering the car. Money from the bank robbery was found on Gist when they pulled over the car.

Both Giovannetti and Gist were taken into custody, and are considered suspects in the case.
