Phillies World Series Ring Missing

PHILADELPHIA - What happened to a World Series ring? There's an all-points search for an $11000 piece of jewelry that's priceless to the employee who lost it.

The owner, a member of the Phillies Marketing department, says he noticed the ring commemorating the team's 2008 championship win was missing after he used the restroom at Citizens Bank Park on Monday.

He told police he took off his ring to wash his hands. When he realized it and went back, the ring was gone.

Both police and Phillies' management say the ring is considered misplaced, not stolen.

The 14 karat white gold ring contains 103 diamonds, totaling nearly four karats.

"We always say we play for the rings. So why would I want to hide it? I look at it everyday," said Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins. "To lose it? Whew...I don't even what to say about it."

"As a player on the team, it means a lot to us. It's near and dear to your heart," said Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino. "Hopefully, the person that has it will understand that, hey, I think it belongs in the right hands and should be placed in the right person's hands."

Philadelphia Police South detectives said they reviewed security videotape from the ballpark but have not yet come up with any clues.
