There's no consoling the older sister of the Georgetown police officer who was shot and killed while on the job Tuesday night, Fox 29's Nefertiti Jaquez reported.
"My brother was one of a kind. You couldn't have asked for a better brother," said Michelle Spicer as her voice cracked.
"Everywhere he would go he could touch people's hearts. I mean, he was one of them people that would just help you," she said.
Spicer said she has been crying since she learned her brother was murdered moments after he started his shift and just a few blocks away from his home.
"Apparently I was just a drug deal gone bad at McDonald's," the sister said. "He had just come on duty at 7 o'clock and he had spotted the car coming around the circle. And that's when the pursuit happened over here."
The 29-year-old officer was killed and Cpl. Shawn Brittingham was wounded when they were shot, police said, as they chased three men wanted in a shooting at the fast-food restaurant just off Route 113.
The officers followed a Chrysler Sebring suspected in the restaurant shooting to a neighborhood 10 blocks away.
Police said the three occupants jumped out of the car and started to run. The two officers gave chase.
"Some shots were fired in the direction of the police officers," police spokesman Cpl. Bruce Harris said.
Spicer died after being shot in the face. Brittingham was hit in the neck by a projectile fragment. He was released from the hospital Wednesday.
Spicer is the first Georgetown police officer killed in the line of duty.
"Delaware State Police currently have two of the three suspects in custody, and we're still searching for the third suspect," Harris said Tuesday night.
Derrick J. Powell, 22, was on of the two suspects apprehended by police after the shooting. He is facing first-degree murder charges, among others.
The second individual taken into custody has not been charged. Police said preliminary information suggests that person was not directly involved with Spicer's killing, although the investigation continues.
The third suspect was identified as 20-year-old Christopher Reeves, who is still at large as the Spicer family tries hard to cope with their loss.
"He needs to turn himself in. Just turn yourself in, make it easier on yourself. I mean, it's a life of running's not worth it," Michelle Spicer said.
Reeves is described as black, 22-years-old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds and having tattoos on his arms and neck. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone who may know Reeves' whereabouts is asked to call Troop 4 at 302-856-5850, Crime Stoppers at-1-800-TIP-3333 or for immediate assistance dial 911.
