Arrest In Vending Machine Burglaries

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A 10-month long crime spree across two counties ends with the arrest of a man who could be charged with over 40 burglaries.

Police say the bandit stole from vending machines and businesses. The incidents cross Montgomery and Chester Counties, in at least five cities.

The suspect could be connected to more, reported Fox 29's Dave Schratwieser.

Police sources say investigators believe 31-year-old Kevin Mack was allegedly a one-man crime spree and could potentially be held responsible for dozens of burglaries.

Investigators tell Fox 29 that Mack's favorite crime scene locations were corporate centers and office parks. Once inside the buildings, he allegedly went to work on the vending machines, netting between $50 to $200 a pop. Sources say investigators believe he's responsible for upwards of 40 such burglaries from Treddyfrin in Chester County to Plymouth Township in Montgomery County.

Sources tell Fox News Mack is a former employee of a security company that was hired to guard corporate centers. He had access to the security codes that gave him access to the buildings where some of the burglaries occured.

Mack's alleged burglary spree started last December and ended in Plymouth Township last week when he was finally caught red-handed inside a building on Plymouth Road, say police. Police say Mack always wore gloves and was rarely captured on video tape. Detectives from at least five towns are now pooling their resources and may charge Mack with over 40 burglaries.

Treddyfrin Township police had undercover details patrolling their office parks trying to catch the burglar. They even put electronic equipment in one location. When he struck, he made off with those items.

Sources say Mack is cooperating with investigators. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday. To date, he has only been charged with one burglary. More charges are expected.
