GEORGETOWN, Del. - Officials in Georgetown are inviting the public to pay their final respects to a police officer who was shot and killed last week.
The funeral procession for Officer Chad Spicer will wind through downtown Georgetown following the 2 p.m. service Tuesday at Crossroad Community Church. After going through the center of town, the procession will make its way back to Cokesburg Cemetery, where Spicer is to be buried.
Officers from as many as 100 police agencies from around the country are expected to accompany the casket. Officials are encouraging the public to line the procession route.
The 29-year-old Spicer was killed and another officer was hurt in a shooting Tuesday. One man has been charged with first-degree murder.
