Cops: Missing Mom Not In River

Lower Merion police now say it’s very unlikely that missing mom Toni Sharpless and her car are in the Schuylkill River in Gladwyne, Pa.

Police spoke with the Daily Local Of West Chester after another search on Wednesday came up empty for Sharpless’ car.

One car was found in the river and two other objects believed to be cars turned out to be rocks, police told The Daily Local.

Other cars may be in the river, but too far away from the river bank to make them likely to belong to Sharpless.

"It doesn't look like any one of them would be Sharpless' car,” police said.

The Texas Equusearch worked with local police and divers last week to comb the river for missing nurse and mother.

Texas Equusearch team was contacted by the family of the 29-year-old Sharpless.

Sharpless was last seen Aug. 23 after she left a party with a friend. The two had gotten into a fight about whether Sharpless was too drunk to drive.

The volunteer organization from Texas scanned the river by Flat Rock Park in Gladwyne with a sonar device last Thursday.

She was last seen less than a quarter mile from the park. She had been driving a friend home from a house party when they got into an argument about whether she was sober enough to drive. The friend got out at Hollow Road but Sharpless was never seen again.

Sharpless' family called Texas Equusearch for help.

"We've done searches all over the world," said CEO Tim Miller.

Caylee Anthony, Jennifer Kesse, and Natalie Holloway are just some of the cases Texas Equusearch has assisted on. They are a volunteer group that does not get reimbursed by police or families. They are strictly here to help, says Miller.

Sharpless is 5 feet 5 inches tall, 135 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes. She was driving a black 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, license plate number DND-7772.
