Firefighter Faces Underage Sex Charges

FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. - A Fort Washington volunteer firefighter is under arrest on sexual assault charges for an alleged relationship with an underaged girl.

Nathaniel D. Wood, 27, and the girl were living at a private missionary community when the incidents occurred, according to The Ambler Gazette.

The girl was 15 at the time, the court affidavit says.

Wood has been charged with two felony counts of statutory sexual assault, two felony counts of aggravated indecent assault of someone under 16, four misdemeanor counts of indecent assault with a person under 16 and four misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors.

In August, Wood, as a member of the Fort Washington Fire Co., was hailed a hero after saving a man from a near-drowning during a storm.
