Republican senate candidate Pat Toomey isn’t happy about an attack ad from Democrat Joe Sestak that compares him to dog poop.
The ad was made by campaign strategist Neil Oxman, who also did the “re-elected” ad that sunk Sen. Arlen Specter’s campaign against Sestak this spring.
“I think it is ridiculous,” Toomey told Fox 29. “First of all, I couldn’t believe he’d run an ad like that. But the fundamental thing is that Joe wants to claim that he wants to hold everyone accountable. The person he doesn’t want to hold accountable is himself.”
Toomey said he’s been out of Congress for six years, and Sestak has been in Congress for the past four years.
“He wants to blame this mess on me,” Toomey said. “He’s got to try these distractions to get away from his record.”
Toomey and Sestak are locked in a tight race for Specter’s U.S. Senate seat.
Also, last night tried to link Toomey to Sarah Palin at a TV debate.
“I think she endorsed by campaign yesterday or the day before,” Toomey said. “I have endorsements from all kinds of people.”
Toomey said he also thought it would be close race and he’s not counting on polling data.
But he feels he can win since he’s winning over Democrats.
“Joe has been very dishonest about the charges he made,” Toomey said about claims in recent Sestak ads.
