Video: Lawyer Flips On Kate Gosselin

PHILADELPHIA - Jon Gosselin was shocked and his lawyer irate after Kate Gosselin skipped a court hearing outside Philadelphia on Monday.

Lawyer Mark Jay Heller went on a tirade about Kate Gosselin, calling her “the old lady who lived in the shoe” and claiming that Kate Gosselin ran up a $170 meal tab in New York on the same day she cried on TV about being broke.

Heller also repeatedly demanded an explanation for how Kate Gosselin allegedly spent $33,000 from the same account that Jon Gosselin withdrew $230,000 from.

“Jon Gosselin has met all of the obligations he was required to make,” Heller said. “The obligations that Kate Gosselin has were not fulfilled. Maybe that explains why she didn’t appear in court today.”

In a statement, Kate Gosselin's legal firm said she had met all the conditions set by the court.

“Ms. Gosselin, who was directed by the court to provide an accounting by today’s date, did in fact provide a full and complete accounting of funds prior to today, and in light of that compliance, she was not required to be at today’s proceeding,” said Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP.

Heller and Jon Gosselin made statements on the Montgomery County courthouse steps that contradicted that statement.

“I’m a little shocked,” Jon Gosselin said about Kate’s no-show in court. “She keeps avoiding and avoiding, I guess that is the Kate Gosselin away,” Jon Gosselin said.

Jon Gosselin also asked Kate to go into therapy with him.

Jon Gosselin was at the hearing with Judge Arthur Tilson on Monday and Tilson was satisfied that the reality TV dad put almost $200,000 back into a family bank account.

However, Kate Gosselin skipped the hearing to attend a conference and book signing in Long Beach, Calif.

Jon Gosselin now claims Kate did not account for how she spent $33,000 from the same bank account. Kate’s lawyer said the court didn’t require such an accounting.

The rest of the financial settlement has been put off until a two-day arbitrator session in November.

There were conflicting reports over the weekend if Jon Gosselin had paid back nearly $200,000 to one of two family bank accounts.

The hearing was set to hear complaints over that issue and the couple's joint assets.

However, Kate Gosselin had a previous date to appear at a women's leadership conference run by Maria Shriver in California. Kate Gosselin was also scheduled to do a book signing with Paula Deen and other celebs.

Jon Gosselin is also  now allowing Kate Gosselin's estranged brother and sister-in-law visit his children when he has shared custody of their children.

Kevin Kreider and his wife, known to “Jon & Kate Plus 8” fans as Uncle Kevin and Aunt Jodi, were at the Gosselin house in Wernersville, Pa., this weekend.

The web site Radar Online showed images of the Kreiders with Jon Gosselin on Sunday.

The Kreiders publicly criticized Kate Gosselin online and on TV this spring after the couple was cut out of the Gosselins' TV show.

They claimed Kate Gosselin was angered that TLC wanted to compensate the couple for their appearances on TV.

Kate Gosselin said on the “Today Show” in June that the Kreiders lied about the circumstances of their estrangement.

“That’s probably one of the most hurtful things in all of this. When family turns on you and makes up lies and makes allegations and makes tens of thousands of dollars doing it. This is a brother I was very, very close to. And he became jealous and decided that they were going to take their fame and go elsewhere and make money essentially off of my children.”
