Police: Drug-Deal Text Lead To Crash

Bicycle Rider Struck By Car In Stable Condition

MEDFORD, N.J. - Police say a man who drove his car into a cyclist in South Jersey was sending a text message about a drug deal.

The Cherry Hill woman was riding her bike in Medford on Monday night.

Police say 28-year-old Robert Sharrer, of Pemberton, told them he was texting when his vehicle crashed into her.

Police say they found unauthorized prescription drugs in Sharrer's car and charged him with drug possession. They say he'll also be charged in the collision. Police did not know whether Sharrer had an attorney.

The injured biker was reported to be in stable condition.
