No Sentence Yet In Cassidy Murder

The admitted killer of Philadelphia Police Officer Chuck Cassidy will have to wait until next week to find out if he'll be sentenced to death or life in prison.

The jury deliberating the fate of John Lewis, 23, was sent home Friday afternoon. They will hear closing arguments in the penalty phase of the trial on Monday.

Jurors Thursday found Lewis guilty of first-degree murder in the Halloween 2007 shooting death of the 53-year-old policeman. Prosecutors are arguing for the death penalty.

The panel on Friday heard relatives testify that Lewis grew up without a father. They said his father was the unintended victim of a drive-by shooting and died when Lewis was 5.

Officer Cassidy's daughters also testified. They called their father "Superman" and said he was the funniest man they had ever known.
