24-Year-Old Chicagoan Dies After Blue Horizon Bout

PHILADELPHIA - A young boxer is dead after a 10th-round knockout blow over the weekend at the famed Blue Horizon.

Francisco Rodriguez, 24, of Chicago, was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in critical condition.

Doctors immediately performed surgery to relieve pressure on his brain from bleeding, but they told his family he would never fully recover.

Family members took him off life-support around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

The city medical examiner will perform an autopsy Tuesday.
