UPPER DARBY, Pa. - Police in Upper Darby have charged a woman with aggravated assault and other charges for allegedly hitting three middle school students with her car, leaving two with life-threatening injuries.
42-year-old Dawn Denise Snell is being held on $1 million bail in Delaware County Jail.
Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says Snell swerved into a group of boys around 12:10 p.m. Tuesday as the 7th graders left Beverly Hills Middle School.
Chitwood says two of the boys underwent surgery to relieve pressure on their brains and one of them is in a medically induced coma. A third boy is also hospitalized with less serious injuries.
According to investigators Snell, of Lansdowne, was rushing her daughter to a train station when she hit the boys. Chitwood says she kept going and hit another vehicle before stopping.
A preliminary hearing is set for next week.
