Philadelphia - A crime-prevention program targeting Philadelphia's most dangerous neighborhoods is being touted as a success.
"Operation Pressure Point" began in April and ended in November. The initiative partnered city police with state and federal agencies, focusing on 12 police districts between 4 p.m. and 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said Tuesday that in those districts during the program period, 1,775 arrests were made and nearly $5 million in drugs were seized.
Ramsey said weekend homicides were also cut in half and shootings fell 11-percent in those districts.
The commissioner said the program will be renewed next year.
