PHILADELPHIA - As schools, refineries, and companies close and leave so many out of work, nine people who had secure union jobs at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for decades have been fired for refusing to get flu shots.
The Philadelphia Daily News reports the hospital did not accept the workers' reasons for refusing, as they did for some others for religious or medical reasons.
The hospital is requiring all its workers from doctors to dishwashers to get flu shots for the first time to protect its patients.
CHOP has not yet released a statement.
